Slight increase in shows by Mon performing
Fri 01 Jun 2007, IMNA
Three Mon performing companies increased in the comming season this year. They have been grumbling for not being hired for entertainment as much as they would have like to, since the onset of monsoon.

The three groups are Manoke Sone, one from Khit Aie Kamie, and Mange Done Mon by establishing from Mon Sone Ong, Ong Mange and Mon female troupe Mi Aie Mon Chan.

Leading actor from Mange Done Mon, Ong Mange hired singer Asorn from Gita Alarnkar. Mon audiences, especially youth hope to watch his performance.

Mon groups complained of the crisis their business is facing. They are getting fewer calls to perform because of a ban on gambling parties by the Burmese Army authorities.

Mon Sone Ong group is more popular compared to others because they have Mon performer Chan Nyi Chan.

According to Mon comedian, I Sorry, "Mon Sone Ong was hired for over 150 nights while Mon Kyae Lie had about 90 nights."

Mon performances also need a lot of investment given the competition among each other. State decorations and other stage sets need to be different for each group.

People who would like to hire these performing groups complain that the hire charges are very high because the expenditure for performances has increased with the addition of more equipment and stage decoration.

Manoke Sone, performer and singer, spent about 10 million on his performance, said I Sorry.

Mon performers, include Mon Chit Soe, Seik Chan Git, Mon Kyae Lie, Mon Sone Ong, Htaw Naung, Khit Aie Kamie, Pakao Myintta, Ni Yu Wae, and Ong Seik Kyae.
