Wed 24 Dec 2008, Rai Maraoh, IMNA
A funeral for Nai Thein Win, a central committee member of New Mon State Party (NMSP), was held by his family today in Waezin village. Nai Thein Win was 46, and passed away on December 22nd after being taken to the Ye Hospital in Ye Town, Mon State. He is survived by his wife Mi Chae and four daughters. “He felt sick during preparations for the 50th golden jubilee anniversary of the party, so we sent him to hospital. We believe he passed away from a heart attack,” an NMSP lieutenant told IMNA over the phone. Nai Thein Win, who was born in Kwan Ka bue village, Mudon Township joined the party in 1981. He served as a medic worker until 1990, when he ranked as a Township Administration Committee Member in Thaton District. Later, he was appointed as Township Administration Chairman of Ye Township. In 1996, he became the Tavoy District Secretary. In 2007, he moved to Thaton district as district secretary. “He was a wise man. He has good communicator and tried hard for the party,” a close friend told IMNA today. “When MSF (Médecins sans Frontières – France) was trying to withdraw from the Mon community, they stayed longer due to his efforts.”
