The Township Peace and Development Council (TPDC) and the education department authorities have collected funds following their decision to support students from Three Pagoda Pass.

The TPDC and the education department collected about 5,000 Baht from each quarter of Three Pagoda Pass town, according to a resident of the town. That town has four quarters.

“They have already collected about 20,000 Baht from No-3 quarter. The other three quarters paid more than 5,000 Baht,” said Nai Aung Thein.

We were able to fund about 20 students of 10th standard for their tests in Kya-inn-seik-kyi in March, he said.

According to him, the residents were not satisfied because the authorities always collect money for road construction but never build it. So they are worried that the corrupt authorities will not ultimately fund the students.

Some residents think they will misappropriate the money because the students are nearly finishing school, Nai Aung Thein added.

The residents who live on the main road paid about 100 Baht, the middle class paid 50 Baht, and the workers paid 10 Baht to the authorities, he added.

The funds are supposed to support 10th standard students before their examination. These students cannot afford the cost of the trip for the examination.

The authorities started collecting funds from February 21 following the meeting on February 20.
